LONDON, ON - Huron University is pleased to announce the official naming of its new academic building, the Frank Holmes Centre for the Leadership, Ethics & Entrepreneurship.

The Frank Holmes Centre is Huron’s newest facility on Western Road. The 40,000 square foot academic building houses innovative classrooms, community-gathering spaces and a 450-seat auditorium. This space was made possible thanks to a transformative $3.25 million donation from investor, venture capitalist and philanthropist, Frank Holmes, a Huron Class of ’78 alumnus.

“The Huron community is both grateful and humbled by Mr. Holmes’ generosity,” said Dr. Barry Craig, President, Huron University College. “In getting to know Frank as an alumnus and member of our Board of Governors, I have seen his commitment to giving back to his community and creating more opportunities for young people.

“Through this building, I know we can provide more opportunities to students and the very best education and university experience,” he said.

Holmes is a proud Huron graduate and a successful businessman. Born in Toronto, he is currently Chief Investment Officer of U.S. Global Investors, a company that oversees almost $4.3 billion dollars in assets under management. He is also the Executive Chairman of HIVE Blockchain Technologies, the first cryptocurrency mining company to go public in 2017.

“The Huron model of education is needed more than ever before,” said Holmes. “We, as a society, are at a turning point where we can choose to lead the easy way, or choose to take the longer, harder road of leading with integrity, conviction and fortitude. Huron is teaching the next generation that the more difficult route is the better one not only for the individual, but society as a whole.”

In addition to being a Huron alumnus, Holmes also serves as a member of the university’s Board of Governors.

“I truly can’t thank Frank enough for showcasing what true leadership looks like. Generations of future Huron students will reap the benefit of his truly outstanding contribution,” said Dr. Craig.

A formal unveiling of The Frank Holmes Centre for Leadership, Ethics & Entrepreneurship with Holmes in attendance is planned for later in 2022.
