The Frank Holmes Centre for Leadership, Ethics & Entrepreneurship

The Frank Holmes Centre for Leadership, Ethics & Entrepreneurship is Huron’s newest, state-of-the-art facility. With over 40,000 square feet of instructional and community-gathering space, the Frank Holmes Centre is specifically designed to support that mission by fostering our close-knit community and cultivating passionate and civic-minded leaders.

Completed in the summer of 2021 and opened to students in the Fall, the building is the central hub of student life on campus and Huron’s flagship presence on Western Road, one of London’s most prominent streets.

From interactive classrooms to a formal, fully-equipped auditorium, the building was designed with students always in mind.

THE JUDY AND ALAN MEDLINE STUDENT COMMONS

Huron’s Student Commons is fully equipped with a stage and lounge area, making it the go-to for hanging out between classes and attending mixers, networking events and shows.

CLASSROOMS BUILT TO INNOVATE

Huron’s small class sizes and faculty commitment define the Huron academic experience. To make sure we can maintain this culture of educational excellence, these new learning spaces specifically cater to our professors’ interactive style of teaching.

THEATRE & CIVIC ENGAGEMENT CENTRE

See learning come to life at the podium of the 450-seat auditorium. This space is all about creating meaningful engagement between our university and our local and global communities.

Frank Holmes

Frank Holmes is a proud Huron alumnus, Class of 1978. He is currently the Chief Investment Officer of U.S. Global Investors, a company that oversees almost $4.3 billion dollars in assets under management, and the Executive Chairman of HIVE Blockchain Technologies, the first cryptocurrency mining company to go public in 2017.

Born in Toronto, ON, Holmes says he was exposed to many different cultures and socio-economic backgrounds as a child. As a result, he says he developed a determination to leverage the capacity he built through U.S. Global Investors to invest in charities that give underserved kids a leg up.

“One acquires an appreciation of diversity and thinking in a liberal arts education,” he said at his 2013 Medal of Distinction ceremony. “That is important because there is no one thought model that really survives for long.”

Giving thanks, giving back and showing gratitude for one’s successes is a way of life for Holmes. He says his contribution to Huron is in thanks for the life he’s earned through hard work and education and is also in recognition of the fact that Huron is committed to educating the next generation of ethical, disciplined and grateful leaders of industry.

“The Huron model of education is needed more than ever before. We, as a society, are at a turning point where we can choose to lead the easy way, or choose to take the longer, harder road of leading with integrity, conviction and fortitude. Huron is teaching the next generation that the more difficult route is the better one not only for the individual, but society as a whole.”
