Huron awards up to ten International Presidential Scholarships worth $100,000 over four years ($25,000 per year) to entering international students. Receiving this scholarship could reduce your tuition fees to $14,000 to $25,000 per year, depending on your program.
Huron’s emphasis on developing Leaders with Heart means that the university cares about your heart as much as your mind. It attracts students who are drawn to service and determined to use their academic and career success to positively impact global society and take on the world’s toughest challenges.
Therefore, this scholarship is quite holistic in nature and looks far beyond your grades alone: it is assessed on a combination of three main components in the application process:
Academics: A minimum predicted or mid-year average of 90% in your current most senior year of high school. If you’re at an IB Diploma school, you’ll need a minimum predicted score of 35 IBDP points or higher (including bonus points for EE & TOK). If you’re currently pursuing A-Levels or AS-levels, you’ll need predicted scores of A or A* across all courses.
Extracurricular: In the application, you can describe between 1 to 5 of your most notable extra-curricular, leadership or community service achievements from throughout your high school years. These can be achievements within your school or even those in your community outside of school. Huron also recognizes that the challenging circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic may have impacted your ability to be involved in such activities: so this year, the application has been amended to include more forward-looking questions about your passions, future goals and aspirations.
School Nomination: Your school counsellor will complete a nomination form and submit a Recommendation Letter to give the Scholarship Committee a greater insight into the kind of student and leader that you are.
