Land Acknowlegment

We would like to acknowledge the history of the traditional territory in which Huron University College operates. We would also like to respect the longstanding relationships of the three local First Nations groups of this land and place in Southwestern Ontario. The three First Nations communities closest in proximity to Huron University College are:

Chippewa of the Thames First Nation (part of the Anishinaabe)
Oneida Nation of the Thames (part of the Haudenosaunee)
Munsee-Delaware Nation (part of the Leni-Lunaape)

What is O-Week?

O-Week at Huron is unlike any other: Not only will your Orientation Week include a wide variety of high-energy, highly social events, but you will also be surrounded by senior students, faculty and staff who will happily support you with anything you may need to feel comfortable transitioning into this new stage of your life.

Huron Sophs have a responsibility to promote personal wellness, encourages participation in a variety of campus community-building events, and positively connect new students to Huron's academic and social environment.

O-Week FAQ's

When and where do I get my Orientation Kit (O-Kit)?

If you are an off-campus first year student, you will receive your O-Kit on September 1st at Off-Campus Day. If you are a resident living at Huron, you will receive your O-Kit on September 2nd when you arrive on campus for move-in. 

Upon arrival to campus, a Huron Soph will meet you in the parking lot and direct you to where to go next for check-in. All Huron students participating in Orientation Week will receive an email with details about the week.

When Do I Get my Student Card?

When you arrive for move-in, you will be asked to check-in where you will receive your Western One card, residence room key, and O-Kit.  Upon arrival to campus, a Huron Soph will meet you in the parking lot and direct you to where to go next for check-in. All Huron students participating in Orientation Week will receive an email with details about the week.

Orientation Serves (OServes) connects Huron to volunteering opportunities in the London and surrounding areas. On September 7, Huron's incoming students and their Sophs spend the day working in the community, alongside and supporting our non-for profits organizations in the London region. Students volunteer with these organizations, learn about their efforts and give back to the community.  During this time student can get to know other fellow incoming students.  Students will be exposed to the critical issues existing in London and society including physical and mental health, environment, poverty, and more.
