Cheating Hitler: Surviving the Holocaust - A Film Screening and Panel Discussion

Mar 5th
6:30pm - 9:00pm
London Jewish Community Centre 536 Huron Street, London, ON N5Y-4J5

Huron invites you to join us for a very special screening of Cheating Hitler: Surviving the Holocaust at the London Jewish Community Centre.

This film chronicles the experiences of three Canadian Holocaust survivors as they return to the sites where their lives were fundamentally changed by the Holocaust. Our university is incredibly proud that our alumnus, Steve Gamester, produced this film in honour, celebration and remembrance of the survivors and victims of these atrocities.

It is our privilege to ask you to join Huron for a film screening and panel discussion with four representatives of the Jewish community, including world-renowned Jewish scholars, the granddaughter of survivor Rosie Lipszyc and Steve himself. While our hearts are heavy with the realities of this film, our university is passionate about protecting and nurturing the legacy of the Jewish people. Part of this dedication requires grappling with tragic narratives and their implications for humanity.

Panelists:
Steve Gamester, Film Producer, Huron Alumnus, '97
Tara Hofbauer, Western student and granddaughter of survivor Rose Lipszyc, featured in the film
Alain Goldschlager, Professor, Director Holocaust Literature Research Institute
Eli Nathans, Associate Professor
