Join Huron’s Community Choir
This non-liturgical community choir will bring together the university’s students, faculty and staff for weekly rehearsals on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. Participants are not required to audition to take part in this choir, and all are welcome regardless of previous choir experience or singing experience.
Please join us for an open first rehearsal and gathering of the choir on Tuesday, September 17, 7pm in the Huron chapel, with no obligation to join.
Patrick Murray, Director – Chorale, Les Choristes & Western University Singers, will lead the Huron Chorus. Talking about this new creative initiative and artistic outlet at Huron, he shared:
“I am delighted to be working alongside Huron students, faculty and staff to bring the Huron Chorus to fruition for the 2019-2020 school year. In particular, we share a vision of creating an environment where a diverse group of students, staff, and alumni can gather to form friendships and connections through a shared love of collaborative music-making.”
With the school community’s dedication and commitment, I hope we’ll be able to build a lasting campus community organization that over many years will provide a sense of joy and belonging both for those who come out to sing and those who come out to listen.
Weekly Tuesday rehearsals will run from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Huron chapel, in preparation for a concert each term. The choir’s music will be drawn from numerous styles and genres, including popular, classical, jazz, and world musics.
If you are interested in participating in either Huron’s Community Choir, please contact Patrick Murray at firstname.lastname@example.org
