Your university. Your accomplishments. Our Timeline.

Welcome to our Alumni Timeline – the place where our alumni can share their accomplishments, updates and everything in between with their past classmates. Whether you’ve just achieved a significant professional milestone or created transformational change within your community, we want to hear all about it – and how Huron helped you get there. We know how amazing our school is, and what makes it so exceptional are the people a part of its rich history. So, let’s show off our awesome community and create an Alumni Timeline we can all be proud of.

Liberal Arts

While at Huron, Richard lived in O’Neil Residence at Huron in 1964-1968. Through his work in the law and in the community, Richard has more than established himself as a highly respected lawyer, educator, and dispute resolution arbitrator. Also, he has served as a member of the Corporation of Huron University College since 2009 and was the recipient of Huron’s Alumni Award of Distinction in 2014!

News and Achievements

Since graduation, Richard has gone on to accomplish more than can be listed in this short summary. He is Counsel with McKenzie Lake Lawyers LLP and Senior Law Professor at Western University. In addition, he is the founder of Innovative Dispute Resolution and he also established McLaren Global Sport Solutions. The Advisory Council for the Order honoured McLaren as an Officer, one of Canada’s highest civilian honours, for “his contributions to sports law and arbitration, alternative dispute resolution and legal education as an internationally renowned lawyer and professor.” Governor General David Johnston named McLaren an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2016.
